³ When my spirit grows faint^(F) within me,
    it is you who watch over my way.
In the path where I walk
    people have hidden a snare for me.
⁴ Look and see, there is no one at my right hand;
    no one is concerned for me.
I have no refuge;^(G)
    no one cares^(H) for my life.

⁵ I cry to you, Lord;
    I say, “You are my refuge,^(I)
    my portion^(J) in the land of the living.”^(K)

⁶ Listen to my cry,^(L)
    for I am in desperate need;^(M)
rescue me^(N) from those who pursue me,
    for they are too strong^(O) for me.
⁷ Set me free from my prison,^(P)
    that I may praise your name.^(Q)
Then the righteous will gather about me
    because of your goodness to me.^(R)

¹² “Woe to him who builds a city with bloodshed^(A)
    and establishes a town by injustice!
¹³ Has not the Lord Almighty determined
    that the people’s labor is only fuel for the fire,^(B)
    that the nations exhaust themselves for nothing?^(C)
14 For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory^(D) of the Lord
    as the waters cover the sea.^(E)

¹⁵ “Woe to him who gives drink^(F) to his neighbors,
    pouring it from the wineskin till they are drunk,
    so that he can gaze on their naked bodies!
¹⁶ You will be filled with shame^(G) instead of glory.^(H)
    Now it is your turn! Drink^(I) and let your nakedness be exposed^[a]!^(J)
The cup^(K) from the Lord’s right hand is coming around to you,
    and disgrace will cover your glory.
¹⁷ The violence^(L) you have done to Lebanon will overwhelm you,
    and your destruction of animals will terrify you.^(M)
For you have shed human blood;^(N)
    you have destroyed lands and cities and everyone in them.

¹⁸ “Of what value^(O) is an idol^(P) carved by a craftsman?
    Or an image^(Q) that teaches lies?
For the one who makes it trusts in his own creation;
    he makes idols that cannot speak.^(R)
19 Woe to him who says to wood, ‘Come to life!’
    Or to lifeless stone, ‘Wake up!’^(S)
Can it give guidance?
    It is covered with gold and silver;^(T)
    there is no breath in it.”^(U)

²⁰ The Lord is in his holy temple;^(V)
    let all the earth be silent^(W) before him.
